What Is ITB Syndrome?
ITB syndrome is caused by irritation or friction of the iliotibial band — a thick band of tissue running from the hip to the knee — usually due to overuse.

Causes:

  • Running on uneven surfaces

  • Weak hip stabilisers

  • Overtraining

  • Poor footwear or biomechanics

Symptoms:

  • Pain on the outer knee or thigh

  • Discomfort during or after running

  • Clicking or snapping sensation

  • Tightness in the outer hip
